ABOUT US
At Taranaki Cathedral we have a particular commitment to peace and reconciliation, taking Te Tiriti o Waitangi seriously, working through the good and bad of our history, figuring out what it looks like to be disciples of Jesus on this whenua, and playing our part in building a better Aotearoa for the generations to come.
God, through Christ, paved the way for us to be in right relationship with everything and everyone - no longer distant from our Creator, but fully at home; not internally at war, but settled in our identities, connected to our true selves; not using creatures and creation as commodities, but caring and protecting them as gifts; not being isolated from our neighbors, but deeply connected; not living in fear of our enemies, but loving them instead.
We are all invited to partner with God’s unfolding work of reconciliation and redemption. Yes, it can be challenging, but it is important work and what we are called to.
In short, Maungārongo (Peace), Hohou-i-te-Rongo (Reconciliation), and Te Aroha o tētehi ki tētehi (Love for one another)

TAONGA - our stories, our treasures
We tell our stories with art and images, furnishings and symbols. Through them we remember loved ones and our shared history, we lament war and celebrate unity with monuments of peace… this is just a sampling of some of the imagery we hold dear.
OUR STAFF
Although our staff may be small our team is mighty and we couldn't do all we do without every one of them! We currently have 8 on staff at the Taranaki Cathedral, with many many more incredible volunteers.
