On March 17th it will be 161 years since the New Zealand Wars began at Waitara. Te Ātiawa have put together a multi-day programme to mark the date.

From the evening of Tuesday March 16th to dinner time on Thursday the 18th there are great opportunities for us to learn, listen and demonstrate our collective commitment to peace and reconciliation that sits at the heart of our Cathedral Project.

Riri Me Te Raukura (Conflict and Consolidation of Peace) is open to the public and you can drop in and out as your commitments allow (you can download the schedule HERE or look at the event on Facebook HERE). A group of us from Meri Tapu will be meeting each day and heading out together – we'd love you to join us.

DAY 1 March 16th: Meet at 5.20pm at the Waitara War Memorial Hall (Memorial Place, Waitara)

DAY 2 March 17th: Meet 5.20am (yep you read that right) at Hatherly Hall – we'll car pool and/or drive in convoy out to the dawn ceremonies in Waitara.

DAY 3 March 18th: Meet 9am at Hatherly Hall – we'll car pool and/or drive in convoy out to Parihaka for the day.

If you'd like to join us, please let Rob Green know (rob.green@xtra.co.nz or click the RSVP button below ) so we can get a feel for numbers.
