At the conclusion of the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on 19th December, Archbishop Philip Richardson issued a License to Archdeacon Trevor Harrison as Acting Dean of Taranaki Cathedral. Until now, Harrison has been designated Priest in Charge of the Cathedral, alongside his other roles as Vicar General of the diocese (deputy to the Bishop in his absence) and Archdeacon of Waitotara. He will set aside the latter role for the interim, allowing a greater focus on cathedral matters.

Canon Pat Scaife will fill the role of Acting Archdeacon of Waitotara until Archdeacon Harrison returns to South Taranaki.

In addition, Revd. Mele Prescott has been appointed as Acting Regional Dean of South Taranaki, and will be commissioned into this role on Thursday January 17th (Venue and time to be confirmed).

These appointments will last until a permanent appointment as cathedral Dean can be made. Archbishop Philip explained that following a recent recruitment round, discussions are ongoing with several potential Deans, with an appointment likely some months away.
