Married to John Hartley, Ann was the daughter of Harriet and Thomas Sutcliffe. The Hartleys arrived in Auckland on the Frenchman in 1860 with Ann’s mother, Harriet Sutcliffe. Harriet and her husband Thomas lived in Pendarves Street, New Plymouth.
